People say that Tropea is the Pearl of Calabria and there is no wonder why. In 2021, Tropea has been voted the Borgo dei Borghi, the Village of the Villages the award of the top historic and most beautiful village in Italy. Tropea is not only famous for its combination of culture, architecture, seaside, gastronomy and hospitality, but it also has historic significance.
Legend narrates that Hercules founded the town upon return from his labours at the Pillars of Hercules, today’s Strait of Gibraltar. Travelleres will find the hero’s name gracing the main square, Piazza Ercole. However, Tropea’s history goes well beyond the mythology, with findings of ancient Greek tombs and a Roman port in the area.
This is how we first invisioned Residenza Aqualaguna, a place where the ancient Italian culture and modern luxury meets. When we found the best place for our dream, we started developing and rebuilding the apartment so that we could provide the best quality possible. The renovation and hard-work took one year, and after giving a full new design to the apartment Residenza Aqualaguna was born.
